Women’s British Isles bowling championships
The Women’s British Isles bowling championships were held at Sighthill B.C. Edinburgh with Burrelton’s Irene Smith and Marie Milne representing Scotland in the Pairs.
In the Prelim round they faced Jersey and at 4 ends were 0-11 in arrears and at 10 ends still behind by 4-14, however they forged ahead and eventually won 21-18 after 21 ends play in very cold and rainy conditions.
In the Semi-final they played Wales, led 4-1 at 3 ends, 12-10 at 9 ends and were up 15-12 after 13 ends.
However while the Welsh pair had a bye into the Semi-final and Irene and Marie had a hard days bowling the day before; it was the Welsh who eventually won 31-15 and then went on to take the title.
Marie said “We did our best and it has been a great experience representing Scotland and we appreciate the support we have had over the two days.”
In the International series Scotland won all their four games for a runaway victory.

2015 PDL Mixed League Presentation

Presentation of inaugural ‘Certificate of Achievement’
Eddie Nicholson, Bowls Scotland District 6 Secretary and Bowls Scotland Vice President presented Blackford stalward, Maisie Lambie a certificate of achievement to commemorate her 40yrs+ service to Blackford Bowling Club. This is the first certificate of its kind to be awarded in Scotland. Maisie served Blackford in many capacities over 40 years unbroken service on committee and was the Match Secretary for more years than anyone can remember
