Ron Anderson – stateside in the US Open!

The US Open was held at the Sarasota Bowling Club between 12th-19th November, 2016. Ron played in the fours with Andy Thomson, (England) (5 times world champion) Ivan Hyland (South Africa) and Maqsood Khan (Pakistan). They reached the quarter finals and were knocked out from a team from Israel. Fifteen countries were represented in the competition.

In the pairs Ron played with a local member, Alin Lozada, who has only played the gamed for 18 months! They came through the group stages on the first day and the knock out stages the following day and qualified for Saturday’s final. It was a very tight game in the end, 14-14 going into the last end, unfortunately they had to settle for the silver medal. Fine margins. They were 9-0 up after 4 ends but their opposition came storming back.
